Nailed it!

OMG! This is too funny. Just look at the final result and have as good a laugh as I did.

The only thing I can think of that I did wrong was not beating the eggs and sugar long enough. The cake is so dense it is downright chewy and the liquid will not soak in even after sitting in the fridge overnight.

Now, the book has to share a bit of responsibility as well because there is no way that all of that liquid fits in a 9×13 pan with cake already in it. I left about 2/3 cup liquid in the pot because the cake pan was overflowing as you can see in the picture.

Chewy though it was, the flavor was very good, so this definitely gets a do-over.

Final note – the eggs are social distancing just like the rest of us.
