I had high hopes for this one. I love broccoli, rice, and cheese so I figured this was an easy 4 or better score. Alas, it was not to be.

The key to this may be the rice you use. That was definitely the component that dragged the score down. I used a wild rice blend (the only one on the shelf at the store) and it obviously needed more cooking time – it was a step below crunchy when all was said and done. The recipe calls for a wild rice mix, but doesn’t recommend a brand, and then gives you preset cooking times. Rice can vary a LOT when using a packaged mix depending on the process and grain used in the mix so use your judgement during the step of precooking the rice if you make this and cook the rice as long as needed to get it almost done.
