Holy kickin’ crackers! These have some heat!
However, I cannot wait to try these in tomato soup. Next time I will halve the red pepper flakes (Chip would probably give me grief for a weeny move like that).
Tip – don’t use them as is in the Gaines Family Chili unless you damaged your tastebuds in ‘Nam from putting chili sauce on your MREs every day for 2 years.
I was actually surprised this worked – I expected crackers soaking in oil for a day would be a wet, sloppy mess. They are still a bit greasy even after using paper towels to absorb some of the excess. I used the oyster crackers since we eat a lot of soup and not much dip.
