Baklava is sweet and nutty and sticky and delicious. It is also a LOT of work! You know the best way to turn all that effort into fun? Invite your youngest child over and share the experience with them, which means they do the work and you “teach” them how to make the layers.
This ended up being a great day with a ton of laughs, but I won’t be making this unless I have grandkids over and it’s an “experience”. The final result was definitely tasty but not worth the effort, and finding the raw pistachios in the store was impossible. I had to order them online.
Advice on keeping the puff pastry moist – be VERY careful not to let the damp towel touch it! Any moisture turns the pastry into goo where it makes contact
