Things I have learned in the first month of this challenge:
- You can never have too many kitchen tongs or kitchen spoons or spatulas
- I am really glad we got the dishwasher with the 3rd rack because it is perfect for tongs, large spoons, and spatulas
- Our sink needs to be about 6 inches deeper to hold the dishes from a single cooking session
- I am so glad I put the trash can in the pullout under the island so it is right there when I am cooking … except when someone else in the house needs access to it while I am cooking
- My awesome husband buying me a cookbook stand was the perfect birthday gift
- The spice cabinet is too small so an improvisation was needed (yes, Bill Straitwell, they are alphabetized)
- I need to accelerate the schedule for upgrading my stove to gas with a fancy hood and a !pot filler!
- Food Network needs to make their cooking shows more realistic by making competitors work around a dog laying on the floor in various places as you need access, and a second dog running in and out of the kitchen dropping toys in strategic spots that force you to hop over the toys and the lazy dog while avoiding the darting in-and-out dog to get from cabinets to fridge to stove to island prep area like a running back in a football training camp exercise.
